2008 RA Frosty Active

For the 2008-2009 chess season, the EOCA has brought back a series of Active events on Sunday afternoons. The second one, the RA Frosty Active, was held December 7th. The weather was rather rough that day, limiting the number of players to 12, but that number worked great for accelerating pairings. Then for prizes, players were split into 2 subsections, with each winner getting a customized trophy, being personalized with the engraving of their names.

In the 1st subsection (CFC Active 1925-1702), young Mate Marinkovic dominated his opposition en route to a perfect 3-0 score, with no other player even breaking 2 points. Mate played all of his positions very strongly, even when time trouble was involved, and seems to be improving his game quite rapidly.

In the 2nd subsection (CFC Active 1504-UNR), the youngest of the Fritzsche participants, Philipp, scored 2-1, with his only loss being to a player from the 1st subsection. No other player in this subsection even broke 1 point, making Philipp the clear winner after a series of great battles with his opponents.

Yours in chess,

Aris Marghetis, Organizer/TD
